Add MCP to Qoder, Lingma and Trae: Step-by-Step for Chinese AI Coding Tools

MCP is not Cursor-only. Exact entry points, JSON config and activation steps for Qoder (IDE + CLI), Alibaba Lingma, and Trae, plus a side-by-side comparison.

Two prerequisites

  1. Environment first: most MCPs launch via npx/uvx—see the environment setup guide.
  2. Copy a config: grab the mcpServers JSON from any AgentHub MCP detail page. The JSON shape is nearly identical across the three tools; what differs is where you paste it.

Tool calls only happen in Agent mode (plain chat won't invoke your servers), and all three require a logged-in account.

Qoder: IDE panel or CLI

IDE

Open Qoder's MCP settings panel, add a server, paste the command/args/env from AgentHub, save, and confirm the green Connected state.

CLI (config-as-file)

FileScope
mcpServers in ~/.qoder/settings.jsonglobal
<project>/.qoder/settings.jsonthis project
<project>/.mcp.json (with top-level mcpServers)this project, portable format

Or skip file editing:

qoder mcp add filesystem -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem ~/Documents/demo

Type /mcp in chat to inspect health; qoder mcp list / qoder mcp remove <name> manage from the shell. Transports: stdio, sse, http, streamable-http, ws.

Lingma: Personal Settings → MCP

In Lingma (VS Code / JetBrains plugin or standalone IDE):

  1. Avatar → Personal Settings
  2. MCP Services → Add
  3. Fill name + launch command (command/args from AgentHub; secrets in env)
  4. Back in chat, switch to Agent mode with a project open—tools load only then

Notes: STDIO and SSE are both supported; local servers need Node.js 18+ or Python on the machine; put API keys in the env field, never in the chat.

Trae: Settings → MCP, UI or JSON

In Trae (both international and CN builds):

  1. Avatar (top-right) → Settings
  2. MCP tab
  3. Add via the UI form (name/type/command) or JSON edit—paste the whole mcpServers block from AgentHub
  4. Success = the server appears with an expandable tool list

Scope: global settings apply everywhere; a project-root .trae/mcp.json applies to that project only. Local servers use command/args; remote ones just a url. Then ask the AI to "use the xx tool" in Builder/Agent chat.

The one thing to remember: all three use the same mcpServers → name → command/args/env shape. Copy from AgentHub, paste into a different door—that's all.

If it doesn't work

Debug in order:

  1. Run the raw command in a terminal first—if it starts, the MCP is fine and the issue is client config
  2. Agent mode required in all three tools
  3. Check JSON commas/brackets when adding multiple servers
  4. Still stuck? See the MCP troubleshooting guide
